In order for Canta Libre to bring beautiful music into your life, many expenses are incurred that you may have never thought about.  Aside from the countless hours of at home practicing  we each put in (with love, of course) before rehearsal, the minimum cost of every rehearsal is $500 for three hours of very intense, focused ensemble work.  Our last program (which was our absolute best to date!!) entailed at least four rehearsals...

The cost of each of our wonderful, beautiful postcards and concert announcements is (designed for free by dedicated graphic artists who are very generous people) $500, printed on-line at minimal cost, using bulk rate mailing rates...

Each concert appearance (there are usually six or seven of us in each program) is $300 per musician.  These fees are far less than in the orchestral positions each Canta Libre member also holds, but we are very dedicated to chamber music and love performing for you..."Gigs" like weddings and parties pay far more, but we would much rather play for you, who really appreciate our music and the time involved to bring you musical perfection.

The venue "black hole":  many (almost always, sadly) times we are not paid enough to even come close to meeting the above mentioned expenses.  As you know, the wonderful art organizations and cultural institutions that hire us are struggling as well. We need you to come forward and sponsor a concert. We would love to name an event or concert series in honor of YOU!! 

These are just a few of the financial obstacles we are up against, but the rewards of making beautiful music together for you to enjoy are priceless.  Please help us to remain fiscally strong for years to come, as we approach our fifth year anniversary in April, 2007.  We  have enjoyed great success in our short lifespan, and look forward to more exciting appearances, such as our upcoming public TV feature in Feb. 2007.  Please donate today, and thank you for all your support thus far and beyond.
